However, the feelings were not mutual. Adidas favored dominant inside players, not a shooting guard like him. Nike, on the other hand, made him a lucrative financial offer along with the opportunity to create his own clothing line. Eventually, the iconic basketball player signed a contract with Nike, persuaded by his mother, CEO Phil Knight, and agent David Falk. Thus, the Jordan brand was born.

The first sneaker released by Jordan was the Air Jordan 1 High. Its success led to multiple reeditions, including the AJ1 Court Purple (2021). Featuring a white grained leather base, the shoe incorporates metallic purple accents on elements such as the swoosh, outsole, Wings logo, and ankle collar. In contrast, the midsole and laces remain white. This design pays homage to the original Air Jordan 1 High silhouette.
